Darlene Higgs Hollis was born in Freeport, Grand Bahama but raised in Inagua Bahamas. She is the daughter of Pastor Franklyn Higgs (deceased) and Mrs. Drucilla Higgs; the last of twelve children. After spending her teen years in high school in Nassau, she later matriculated to the USA for college. Currently she resides in metro Atlanta, GA, USA. As Hurricane Dorian was battering the two islands in her country, she prayed and cried and even at that time, her heart was with the women and children.
As a Certified Master Life & Business Coach, a book publisher, an ordained minister and a book midwife that serves women, Darlene began to look at ways that she could give back to her Bahamian sisters that would empower them in their mind, body, spirit and help them create wealth. She believes in the African Proverb, "When you pray, move your feet." So in addition to praying, she did the one thing she knew firsthand would help her Bahamian sisters — help them birth their book while rebranding their lives. The idea for "Crisis in Paradise" The Anthology was born. Wanting others to also hear the heart of another Bahamian woman abroad who had galvanized into action in the aftermath of the devastation of Hurricane Dorian on our country, Leshan A. Ferguson joins her in telling her experience as their hearts bled for their people. Though far, they felt near.
Over the past seven months , she has watched these eight women evolve as they answered the call to move themselves forward; mind, body, spirit and a renewed determination to realize their dreams.
